Mud, Sweat & Cheers III Station Preview: Medical Leave

May 8, 2015

Leading up to Saturday’s Mud, Sweat & Cheers III, sponsored by Cayuga Medical Center, we’re previewing the five stations that await the competitors during the Extreme Fitness Challenge. The fifth and final station is Medical Leave.

Station #5: Medical Leave

Sponsored by: Bangs Ambulance

The shortest distance between any two stations comes at the end between Hellish Hill and the fifth station, but with the finish line in sight across the inlet at Island Health & Fitness, the teams may find that last surge of energy they need. By the time our teams get to the fifth and final station, they might feel like they need an ambulance.

Blocking the team’s way to the station is a series of barricades they’ll have to go over and under. After the barricades, each team member must perform 50 sit ups. From there they will strap a teammate to a backboard and carry them 60 meters. The final challenge is a 60-meter farmer’s carry around the cones and back.

With the last station complete, each team runs over the bridge, through the IHF parking lot and across the finish line to complete the Extreme Fitness Challenge.

Chris Bordoni was an active, physically fit Ithaca High School graduate who joined the Marine Corps to fulfill his passion for service to his community and country. Tragically, Corporal Bordoni lost his life from injuries sustained in Afghanistan while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom.

All proceeds from Mud, Sweat & Cheer III go to the Bordoni Trailhead on the Cayuga Lake Waterfront Trail and the Chris Bordoni Scholarship at Ithaca High School.
