The Kid’s Cove Child Care Center is discounted with your membership!

Kids Cove is a safe and convenient baby-sitting service for Island Health & Fitness members, Club guests, and others who utilize Island Health services. To ensure a continued safe and healthy environment for all our Kids Cove Children, please observe the following policies and procedures:

1.How long can I keep my child in the Kid’s Cove?

The maximum time limit for Kids Cove services is 2 hours per day. If a child is not picked up within the allotted time, a fine will be assessed and is payable at the time of pick-up.

2.Can I just show up with my child last minute?

Reservations required for all children. Call Island Health & Fitness at (607) 277-3861 to make reservations. At least 24 hour notice is required for infants (1 year and under).

3.What is the procedure for dropping off my child at the Kid’s Cove?


Parents must check in children at Island Health & Fitness Front Desk.

Parents will then take children to Kid’s Cove and sign child in.

Parents will then return to Island Health & Fitness Front Desk to make payment (if required) and check out children. They will be given a receipt.

Parents will then pick up children at Kid’s Cove and sign children out. Paid receipt is required to pick up children. Monthly and in-trades must also present pick-up slip.

4.Who can drop off and pick up my child at the Kid’s Cove?


All children must be signed in and out of Kids Cove by the same parent or legal guardian. Proper photo I.D. may be requested.

5.What are the qualifications of the staff working in the Kid’s Cove?

Child Care Staff must go through a interview process, background checks, CPR and First Aid Training, and Customer Service training..

6.May I leave the building to run errands and come back to pick up my child?
NO. Those utilizing the Kids Cove area must be present in the Island Health building for the duration of their child’s stay.

7.What is the cleaning and sanitation process in the Kid’s Cove?


Our facilities are cleaned a minimum of twice a day (at least once at 11 a.m. and once at close). We also do periodic spot cleanings of the bathrooms, and other areas that need our attention. The products that we use are all child safe.

8.What is the procedure if my child is crying or becomes ill while in the Kid’s Cove?


If a child cannot be comforted within a ten-minute period, parents will be notified to come to the child center. Our staff will make every effort to comfort your child.

Kids Cove reserves the right to deny access to any child who appears to be sick. Children kept home from school due to illness may not be left in Kids Cove.

9. May I charge the Kid’s Cove to my billing account?

Yes. If the member is billed for membership on a regular month-to-month basis.

10.Can my child eat in Kid’s Cove?

We are concerned about allergy & diet restrictions. We encourage you to bring snacks for your children. We will have labels for you to record the child’s name, date, & snack content. Under no circumstances may children share snacks. Babies can have a bottle of milk, breast milk, or formula.

11.Does the staff change dirty diapers?

Kids Cove staff will not change diapers. When this is necessary, the staff will summon a parent or guardian. Children who are being potty-trained must wear training pants in the Kids Cove area

12.Are toys allowed from home in the Kid’s Cove?


Preferably, comfort items such as blankets, teddy bears, pacifiers are welcome. Small hand held games are allowed at the members risk; we are not responsible for lost, stolen, or broken items.

13.Are there any disciplinary actions taken in the Kid’s Cove?


Parents/guardians will be notified of unacceptable behavior from their children while in Kids Cove. We reserve the right to deny access to any child due to continued misbehavior.

14.Anything else I should know about the Kid’s Cove?

-Kids Cove does not permit sharp objects, glass items, or plastic bags.
-Kids Cove reserves the right to change these rules at any time and will provide written notice of such changes.
-Kids Cove will attempt to accommodate all children. However, for safety reasons we reserve the right to refuse admittance if the number of children per staff member exceeds capacity.
